18th Century Inspired Hoop & Spur 30hr Wall Clock

A weight-driven, 30 hour duration timepiece with painted diamond-shape dial & blued steel hands, anchor recoil escapement, laminated ebony pendulum rod, and forged steel hoop and spurs for wall mounting.

The pillar design was inspired by a Wintmills clock from c1755, and they were individually hand turned. The plate design was heavily influenced by a c1740 Tavern clock signed Richard Duck, but the proportions, curves and lengths were all mapped out using an ancient aesthetic mathematical principle known as the Golden Ratio, in order to obtain a visually pleasing shape.

The clock includes over 50 component parts, each of which was made or machined by hand, without any use of CNC technology. Steel parts are straight-grained, and all brass components are hand-finished with Water of Ayr stone, including the pendulum bob which was then lacquered with a traditional shellac lacquer.
