collections
By combining specialist knowledge with an understanding of conservation science and museum practice, I am able to provide advice on storage and display of horological collections to maximise accessibility and interpretation as well as the longevity of the collection. I can also undertake full-collection condition surveys in order to identify at-risk objects and formulate long- and short-term conservation strategies that fit within the often-limited budgetary requirements of publicly owned institutions.
I also have experience with collections management software, and am able to use institutions’ in-house systems to compile, update and maintain cataloguing records in line with SPECTRUM standards.
Equally, it is not just public institutions that have large horological collections, and I am happy to work with private collectors to build and populate a bespoke collections database in order to facilitate management and study of a collection.
